What to consider
when choosing
your baby's mattress

Sweet dreams start here

Between birth and 2 years old, babies can spend as much as 50% of their life on their cot mattress. And as parents with plenty of experience with restless nights, we know how important it is to select the right mattress from the start. Cotbeds are the most popular choice and we’ve got a wide range to choose from. Follow our 3 step guide to find your perfect cotbed mattress.

Step 1 Select the best support for your baby

  • Long-term Use

Utilise natural inners or pocket sprung designs for exellent support for years to come.

  • Everyday Use

    Use spring coils for good
    everyday support.

  • Ocassional Use

Made from foam and give adequate support. Our ocassional use cotbed matresses are perfect to keep as a spare somewhere you visit regularly, like grandma or grandads.

Choosing a mattress you can rotate round, or flip upside down, will also help it last longer by avoiding sag and extending its ability to spring back into shape. But whatever you choose all our mattresses have at least 10cm deep support as recommended by National Childbirth Trust, and a handy waterproof panel to protect them from night-time accidents.

Tips for safer sleeping

Correct positioning

To ensure your baby has a safe night’s sleep, the ‘feet to foot of the cot’ position is recommended. Place your child at the base of the cot and tuck them in carefully, with sheets no higher than shoulder level to keep them from wriggling under the covers. Sleep bags are also a great alternative to covers. Lay them on their back, unless advised otherwise by your health professional.

Waterproof panel

Within our range each cot bed mattress has an adjustable waterproof panel. The panel can be moved along the mattress as your child grows to help with little accidents.

Correct temperature

It’s vital that your baby is kept at just the right temperature for a perfect night’s sleep and to avoid overheating. Layers can be added or removed, depending on the temperature of the room and your baby’s clothing. One blanket doubled counts as two blankets.
